How to Setup Microsoft 365 Business Premium

Microsoft 365 is a cloud computing service provided by Microsoft. It has many different subscription levels priced on a per user basis, paid monthly or yearly. At the most basic level we just get mobile and web versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. We also get Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Exchange. At the standard level we get desktop versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Things get interesting at the Business Premium and Enterprise levels. At these levels we start to get features for managing computer networks and remote workers.
This tutorial will explain how to setup Microsoft 365 Business Premium which is aimed at businesses with up to 300 employees.
We are essentially renting software and disk space from Microsoft.
Features:
- Software
- Desktop versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- The cloud version of Active Directory which is called Entra
ID (formally Azure Active Directory).
- Microsoft Intune for managing mobiles, tablets, PCs, and Macs.
- A feature of Intune is called, "Windows AutoPilot". This enables the unattended installation of Windows on new computers for remote workers.
- Microsoft Teams for video calling.
- Microsoft Defender for antivirus management.
- Web and Mobile versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- SharePoint for document management.
- Disk Space
- An Exchange mailbox with 50 GB of space per user.
- OneDrive with 1 TB of space per user.
Step by Step
Before doing these steps, you will need a mobile phone to accept text messages, an email address, and a credit card. It is best to use a different email address to your primary email address to avoid messing up your existing Microsoft Account. A business should ideally use an email address dedicated to this cloud service to avoid linking it to any particular member of staff.- Go to Microsoft's website and click on "Microsoft 365".
- Choose "Business".
- Click on "See Plans and Pricing".
- Click on "Paid Monthly".
- Click on "Microsoft 365 Business Premium".
- Fill in the form to meet your needs.

- Enter an email address to be used with this Microsoft 365 account.
- Fill in the form about yourself and set a password.
- Add a payment method then review and complete the order.
- Ignore the advert about growing your business.
- Login to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center by going to https://admin.microsoft.com.

- At this point your Microsoft 365 Business Premium subscription
is setup and ready to be used.
